So a “hife” is a married woman who doesn’t cook and drives fast…and a “wusband” is a married man who cooks and does laundry.

Holy Crap - I was a Hife and I had a Wusband! Uh Oh…now that there are 2 of us…does that mean that we just created a stereotype?

I thought we already had a gender neutral term for our married partners?

I recall that I and my other half once had that same discussion, not becasue either of us had expectations either way, more like the opposite actually. We came to the same agreement as you, deciding that it was best to just go with whatever combination souned best, and she liked the most.

Someone was just telling me about a couple who decided to combine their last names when they got married. I don’t remember what the names were but they took the first half of the wife’s last name and the second half of the husband’s last name and made a new name for both of them,

That’s an interesting way to tackle the subject, and certainly a neutral one. I imagine for most people that’s a little tricky unless the two names work well when blended like that, but great if it works, and a creative way to find a name that suits both partners equally.
