The EU Taxonomy Regulation requires sustainability criteria to be integrated or defined in the investment
process. These criteria define the orientation of companies and countries regarding environmental, social
and corporate governance - internationally known under the abbreviation ESG. This master thesis
investigates with scientific methods this change of the existing process. For this purpose, design science
research is applied as a method. The existing investment process is represented by means of BPMN notation
and the existing knowledge and the current situation are shown. With the help of expert interviews,
conclusions for the solution of the problem are elicited and integrated into the investment process in the
follow-up. The interviews are evaluated using Mayring's methodology and the output is generated by means
of inductive classification. The adapted process is again represented using BPMN notation. The mode of
action is queried by means of a quantitative survey among the employees of the asset management
department of Zürcher Kantonalbank Österreich AG and an outlook on further developments regarding the
EU taxonomy and ESG is presented.
