The aim of this available bachelor’s thesis II is the answer of a research question on the subject “the life at the time of a cancer diagnosis”. The concrete research question is: “In what way life of patients changes at the time of a breast cancer diagnosis?”
For answering this research question the proceed has been taken empirical and qualitative. Interviews were carried out and altogether five concerned breast cancer patients were detailed interviewed about this topic.
The qualitative social research first of all shows that breast cancer patients need to learn to accept their disease and to handle with it. The one has, because of the therapies, strong side effects, the other again feels none of a pain. Every body is different and it reacts differently to special effects. Furthermore, concerned breast cancer patients reduce their worktimes. Because of their debility and tiredness, they are no more able to make the full workhours as before the diagnosis. Also another important factor of this lifechanging at the time of cancer diagnosis are the social relationships in the environment. Few friends indeed cannot get along with the disease of the patients and retire, all the more the family relationships will be intensified by this.
This work shall show, that cancer is an important subject and should be treated more open.
