Developments and changes in modern business are accelerating at an ever faster pace (Keywords: Organisational Development and Change Management). At the same time the developments of various electronic tools - in the business-world as well as in our private lives - are advancing fast (Keyword: Social Media). These developments are not decoupled from each other. On the contrary, they are intertwined. And similar, or even the same, IT tools are used in business and in private life. The increasing interactivity of these tools may also lead to undesirable effects in the workplace (e.g. the so-called 'shitstorm'). Another phenomenon which is becoming more and more prevalent because of tightened restrictions (Keyword: Compliance) is the so-called 'whistleblowing'. Even in this case more and more often electronic tools are available. This paper investigates whether a link between Organisational Development and possible internal 'whistleblowing' tools could be an advantage. Business success largely depends - especially in Change Management processes - on internal communication, which will therefore also be taken into consideration.
The outcomes show that employees see a good and open corporate culture as the best prevention against problems or grievances, and that if this is the case, an anonymous internal whistle-blowing tool is not considered to be necessary.
