Jedoch ist zu hinterfragen, ob sich durch eine Bündelung derartiger Prozesse in jedem Fall Vorteile lukrieren lassen oder aber Bedingungen identifiziert werden können, bei deren Vorliegen etwaige Nachteile dieses Vorgehens überwiegen. Umwelteinflüsse haben hohen Einfluss auf den Erfolg von Zentralisierungsvorhaben. Anhand ausgesuchter Einflussfaktoren wird gezeigt, wie diese auf IT-Aufbauorganisationen einwirken. Als weitere Randbedingungen werden ein Konzernverbund aus Sicht eines Teilunternehmens und eine Shared Service Organisation als Zentralisierungsform vorgegeben. Beantwortet wird, ob eine umfassende, zentrale Leistungserbringung als regelmäßiges Ergebnis einer Zentralisierung erwartet werden kann oder welche Organisationsstrukturen bei Vorliegen bestimmter Bedingungen dennoch dezentral zu betreiben sind.
