Smart Home is a topic which increases its significance, but causes scepticism through the customers. The purpose of this masterthesis is to analyse the critical factors of risk and failure of potential smart-home-users theoretical and to investigate risk attitude and evaluation of rejection aspects empirical.
For the theoretical part, the different risk- and rejection-factors of the customers are analysed and linked with practical occurrences which already happened in the past. Furthermore, a deeper preparation of the risks of special smart-home-devices and -components complete this part.
The empirical section will be responded by an online survey with 131 participants. Thereby the rejection aspects and the risk attitude are evaluated. The results show the partial significant risks of the users, also in relation to the different smart-home-components. It shows that especially the hack of personal data as well as the takeover of smart-homedevices and -components have high risks for the respondents. However, other aspects are hardly risky from their point of view.
