A medium-sized accommodation business in the author's family environment offers overnight accommodation for approximately 70 people. The entire business process, from quotation to billing, is currently handled manually. Reservations are managed using outdated hotel software, and an outdated website offers the opportunity to make enquiries about accommodation.
As part of this project, centralised hotel software is being evaluated as a solution to equip the accommodation business for the digital age. Furthermore, other booking platforms are to be integrated into the centralised availability management system so that it is easy to use and no different data statuses are created.
In addition to evaluating suitable software solutions, the costs of the various providers are recorded and analysed with the help of a cost-benefit analysis. The cost-benefit analysis carried out calculates the total costs for a period of five years and determines the monetary and non-monetary benefits of the selected digital solution. The results indicate that the investment in a digital overall concept is associated with considerable costs, but will be recouped over time due to the anticipated benefits. It is demonstrated that the selected solution will be fully amortised with the expected monetary savings after seven years.
