The demographic change is leading to an increasing demand for age-appropriate housing models that address the diverse needs of older adults. This study examines the housing preferences of individuals aged 70 and above, focusing on key aspects such as accessibility, safety, social participation, and autonomy.
The findings, based on a systematic literature review, reveal that innovative concepts like assisted living communities, multigenerational housing, and smart homes offer promising solutions. However, challenges persist in areas such as funding, technological acceptance, and availability in rural regions. The study emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary approaches and political support to advance these concepts. Further research should focus on the long-term impacts and societal acceptance of new housing models.
