Due to the rapid technological development
of telecommunication networks, documentation tools are reaching their limits in
some areas. For this reason it is usually easier for new technologies to also
acquire new software solutions at the same time. In the course of time this has
resulted in a large number of different documentation tools having been
produced within the „EVN/kabelplus“ company, which are all being used at the
same time.
The aim of „EVN/kabelplus“ is therefore to
create a standardized documentation tool with the help of a universal data
model, in order to simplify and speed up daily processes within the company.
The central research question has arisen from this aim definition: Is it
possible with the help of a universal data model to carry out a risk analysis
of vulnerable infrastructure within telecommunication lines and cable
distribution hubs?
The question will be discussed on the basis
of technical literature about data models, their design, and about
telecommunication networks. At a later stage the necessary data sources and
data within the „EVN/kabelplus“ company will be defined and the design of the
data model begun. After the data model has been developed, its functional
efficiency will be tested with the help of exemplary data. For this purpose a
risk analysis in 5 failure scenarios will be carried out and the result of the
tests will be used to evaluate the risk.
