Gerade Klein- und Kleinstbetriebe sind in der Anschaffung, der Auswahl und dem Betrieb von betriebswirtschaftlichen Softwarelösungen oft von vielfältigen Einschränkungen betroffen. Dies betrifft häufig das nicht im notwendigen Ausmaß vorhandene innerbetriebliche Know-How in der Installation und im Betrieb der EDV-Anlagen, und andererseits sind oft budgetäre Beschränkungen vor allem in Hinblick auf die Erstinvestition gegeben. Hier kann der aktuell in der EDV feststellbare Trend des Cloud-Computings in seinen unterschiedlichen Ausprägungen Lösungsmöglichkeiten für die einzelnen Problemstellungen bieten. Dies beginnt bei der Auslagerung der Plattformverantwortung und des damit verbunden notwendigen Know-Hows durch PaaS (Plattform-as-a-Service) und kann bis hin zur Auslagerung der kompletten Prozesskette mittels SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) führen. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit den dadurch entstehenden Fragestellungen sowohl technischer, juristischer als auch praktischer Natur. Neben einer überblicksmäßigen Einführung in die Begriffe und Technologien des Cloud-Computings werden die besonderen Anforderungen für SMB-Betriebe betrachtet und dargestellt. Als Ziel der Arbeit soll in weiterer Folge der Prototyp einer Finanzbuchhaltungslösung in der Cloud definiert werden, der den auftretenden Problemen und Fragestellungen technische Lösungsmöglichkeiten gegenüberstellt und diese unter Auswahl aktuell verfügbarer Cloudtechnologien realisiert.

Typically there are various restrictions for small companies in acquirement, choice and operation of business software solutions. Reasons for these restrictions are usually lack of necessary knowledge in installing and operating of computer systems and budgetary limits which have to be adhered. In this field and for this restrictions the well-known trend of cloud computing could offer possible solutions. Starting with shifting the responsibility for the technical platform and the necessary know-how to a cloud provider using PaaS (platform-as-a-service) and ending with shifting the entire process by using SaaS (software-as-a-service) there are many different occurrences supposable. This paper deals with the resulting questions from technical, juridical as well as practical view. Besides a brief introduction of the terms and technologies of cloud computing the specific requirements of small and medium companies are in focus. As a result of this theoretical reflection a prototype of an accounting solution using cloud technologies will be defined, which reflects to the questions and problems through defining possible solutions available in the cloud.
