Das Gesundheitswesen in Österreich steuert durch die demografische Entwicklung und den Rückgang an informellen Pflege- und Betreuungsformen auf strukturelle Probleme zu. Überforderte Angehörige, überlastete Krankenhausambulanzen und volle Pflegeheime in Verbindung mit einem allgemeinen Personalmangel in der Pflege verschärfen diese Problematik. Viele Länder folgen dem Ruf der Weltgesundheitsorganisation und streben eine Entwicklung im Bereich Community Nursing an, um zukünftigen Herausforderungen zu begegnen. Daher soll diese Arbeit durch Literaturrecherche Auskunft über den Entwicklungsstand von Community Nursing in Österreich geben und einen Vergleich zum Acute Community Nursing in Niederösterreich an-stellen. 

Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass sich Community Nursing in Österreich aktuell in einer bis Ende 2024 andauernden Pilotphase befindet. Hauptaugenmerke sind die Gesundheitsförderung und Prävention sowie die Vorbereitung aller involvierten Personen auf eine zukünftige Pflegebedürftigkeit. Der Vergleich mit dem Projekt der Acute Community Nurses in Niederösterreich macht deutlich, dass es sich trotz eines ähnlich lautenden Namens um eine von Grund auf andere Herangehensweise handelt, bei der akutpflegerische Interventionen zur Verhinderung einer Hospitalisation im Vordergrund stehen. 

The Austrian health care system is going to face structural problems, which are cause by the demographic change and the decrease of informal care work. These problems are aggravated by overchallenged relatives, overloaded clinics and care homes at capacity. Many countries in the world follow the call of the World Health Organization and target the development of community nursing systems to face upcoming challenges. Therefore this work aims to give information about the state of community nursing systems in Austria and compare that to the Acute Community Nursing project in lower Austria through literature research.

Results show, that community nursing is in an pilot phase until the end of 2024. The major focus is on health promotion and prevention as well as the preparation of all involved people for a future need for care.  The comparison with the Acute Community Nursing project in lower Austria shows that, although they have similar names, this is a different approach which tries to keep people out of hospital through acute nursing procedures.
