Writing an essay

Writing an essay means writing a text about a certain topic. In English texts, the text structure is usually kept simple, the sentences should not be too long or too complicated.

Before writing an essay:

• Take a look at the task and think about it thoroughly
• Collect ideas and note them down
• Think of additional information and sources you could use in your text

While writing an essay:

• Think of a good structure for your text, with an informative introduction and a conclusion
• Arrange your text in paragraphs, each paragraph dedicated to a certain argument/topic
• Avoid repetitions

After writing an essay:

• Read your essay again and have a look at the vocabulary and the grammar
• Check the correct use of the words with a dictionary
• Remind the word order in sentences and questions

Write an essay (250-350 words) about: "Holidays at home or abroad - Which do you prefer?"
You might reflect this topic from various sides (costs /financial aspects, security at home and abroad, possibilities of leisure time activities, weather/climate,...).
